Face

The face is the most exposed and the most immediately visible part of the body and it is with our faces that we communicate most immediately with each other. You could say that the face is the first “visiting card” that we offer to other people. This explains why cosmetic facial surgery is so much in demand and why it can have such an enormous psychological impact on whoever undertakes it. Operations on the face do not aim to change physical traits, but rather to create harmony between the component elements: eyes, forehead, nose, lips and cheeks.

Lifting

Blefaroplastica

Rhinoplasty

This operation serves to correct the bone and cartilage structure of the nose: the tip of the nose, the columella, and irregularities in the nasal septum. The operation usually lasts about 30 minutes and requires two sessions of treatment, with a return to normal social life after 12 days.

Mentoplasty

The purpose of this operation is to correct the shape of the chin. It is usually performed on receding or over-prominent chins. In the case of a receding chin, a prosthesis has to be added, while if the chin is too prominent some of the excess bone is removed.

Otoplasty

This procedure aims to correct cases of prominent ears, and can be carried out on children after the age of 6. The operation is also performed in cases when one ear more prominent than the other, or when the folds of cartilage in the ears are asymmetrical.

Hair Transplants

The problem of baldness can be treated in a permanent way by the use of hair transplants. This is an aesthetic problem, and is generally found in men. The process of thickening the hair on the bald area is carried out by transplanting single roots of the subject’s own hair using the Trilix method. The technique is based on transferring strong hair follicles from areas of the head which are genetically resistant to baldness onto those which where the baldness occurs. Women can also suffer from baldness, but female baldness differs from the male variety as it usually consists of a general thinning of the hair all over the head.

Breast Surgery

The purpose of cosmetic breast surgery is to balance the proportions between the breasts and other parts of the body. The procedure is only carried out to increase or reduce the size of the breasts or to give more body to sagging breasts.

Mastoplasty

Mastoplasty can be of two types: additive or reductive. Additive mastoplasty is carried out by inserting a mammary prosthesis into the empty chest. Reductive mastoplasty reduces the volume of the breast, while at the same time re-modelling its shape.  The aim is to create a balance between the parts of the body, allowing the patient to rid herself of the excess weight and the state of imbalance imposed on the spinal column. Breast reduction is often carried out to allow for greater freedom of movement and to facilitate participation in sport.

Mastopexy

The purpose of a mastopexy procedure is to remodel drooping, fallen or empty breasts. There can be a number of factors behind these conditions: weight loss, pregnancy, breast-feeding and the normal process of ageing all cause progressive relaxation in the glands and skin. The operation usually lasts for about an hour.

Abdominal surgery

The aim of abdominal plastic surgery is to return the skin and muscle structure to its ideal state and to add tone to the skin. It is possible nowadays to carry out this operation quite quickly under local anaesthetic and sedation. In this way the recovery period required is considerably shorter than in the past using the old surgical techniques.

Abdominoplasty

The operation can be carried out on men or women who have an excess of adipose fat in the abdominal area with a consequent abundance of skin. The causes necessitating this procedure are often an unbalanced lifestyle, excessive eating or pregnancy. The surgical reshaping involves removing the excess skin and underlying layer of fat. The abdominal muscles can be correctly realigned and even the umbilicus can be reshaped and repositioned.

Abdominal Liposuction

The operation consists of surgical remodelling of the abdominal zone in order to re-establish a balance between the trunk of the body and the legs. The surgical procedure lasts for about 45 minutes: however, the length of the operation varies according to the extent of the area to be treated. It takes place under local or peridural anaesthetic, accompanied by sedation. The surgeon proceeds by sucking out the adipose deposits through thin tubes inserted into the panniculus by means of tiny incisions. These are made into hidden places like natural folds in the body so as to be as invisible as possible.

Liposuction statistics
Time taken for surgery: 45 min.
Post-operative treatment required: 1 session
Time of stay in clinic: 8 hours
Return to social life: 7 days later
Exposure to the sun: 40 days after the operation

Legs and buttocks

Cosmetic surgery on the legs aims to restore an ideal balance between the bust and the lower regions of the body. There are two types of main defects which can be treated successfully with cosmetic surgery: excess of adipose deposits (or of cellulite), concentrated mainly on the inside and the outside of the thighs, on top of the knees and on the calves; and relaxation of the skin leading to loss of muscle and skin tone. The tightening procedure can employ two different methods, according to the extent of the sagging.

Liposuction

Liposuction of the buttocks is recommended in cases where there is an excessive accumulation of adipose fat. It is often associated with liposuction of the hips and thighs, in order to reinstate general harmony between the various parts of the body. The procedure involves siphoning out the adipose cells using thin tubes inserted under the skin through small incisions. Goose-pimpled skin and lumps which can be either seen or felt are a result of the degeneration of the adipose tissue under the skin. This is usually combined with a build-up of fatty cells and an alteration in the walls of the venous capillaries.
