Homeopathy is a form of natural therapy discovered by the German doctor Samuel Hahnemann towards the end of the 18th century. This type of medicine stimulates the reactive capacity of the organism by administering very dilute doses of the substances that cause the symptoms of a certain illness. In practice, this acts like a vaccine. It can be useful in readjusting the organism after changes have taken place due to stress, physical or emotional trauma, or environmental toxic poisoning. The substances commonly used for therapeutic purposes fall into three categories: vegetable, animal, and mineral. They are all subjected to a process of dilution and shaking, which has the effect of eliminating their toxic properties and increasing their therapeutic value. As medicines they are usually produced in the form of globules and granules. Other forms include drops, ampoules, suppositories, pessaries, creams and syrups. Homeopathy is a genuine holistic medicine, that is to say: a medicine that respects the physical and psychological complexity of the human being. From such a point of view illness is none other than a result of a general imbalance in the individual. The predetermined objective of Homeopathy, therefore, is to bring about a gentle rebalancing of the psychological and physical well-being of the individual.
