The Veneto region has an abundance of thermal centres, thanks to the geological formation of the plain on which it lies. This plain is, in fact, alluvial in origin and was created from the detritus washed down from the Alps to the valley by the numerous rivers and water-courses which criss-cross the region. If you choose to spend a holiday in the Veneto, you can abandon yourself to a period of well-being and relaxation. Ten kilometres outside Padova is the area of the Terme Euganee and its main centres of Albano and Montgrotto, the largest concentration of spa-centres in Europe. Here you can enjoy thermal baths, golf, horse-riding, fangotherapy and well-being holidays to suit every requirement. The Terme di Recoaro (VI) baths are situated in the Valle d’Agno, in a little green valley at the foot of the Dolomites. The spa centre, built at the end of the 19th century, is sited in a beautiful park which extends for more than 20 hectares. Five different types of thermal water gush out at this spa they are mainly used for hydroponic and inhalation treatments and for mud-packs. The Terme di Bibione (VE), located in a well-known spa area, have only recently been discovered. The mineral waters from this thermal spring are used for various types of therapy: fangotherapy and grottoes, baths, presso-therapy and lymphatic drainage, inhalation therapy and balneotherapy. Finally, we would like to draw attention to the Parco Termale del Garda (Garda Thermal Park), housed in the extended complex of the Villa dei Cedri (VR), on the Veneto side of Lake Garda. It is a place of great beauty, as well as the site of a thermal water spring used for balneotherapy. In fact, an attractive little lake has been transformed into a thermal bath with hydromassage and small waterfalls and fountains. The Parco Termale del Garda, a real centre of well-being and relaxation, is also open during the evenings and in the winter. |
